Who is this lady in the lap of Buddha?

There are thousands of different subjects in the traditional Tibetan Thanka, so I can not say with certainty that the Buddha and his specific wife are in this picture. I guess it's a variant of the Adi-Buddha (= primordial Buddha), perhaps Vajradhara or Samantabhadra, but they generally have symbolic attributes in their hands. The Adi-Buddha, the Buddha, many others, are sometimes represented themselves, sometimes in sexual union with his consort. Images with a Buddha, with his wife are known as Yab Yum (= father-mother) who is the woman who is the Yab Yum, but the couple - usually the pattern is called "Buddha NN in Yab Yum. Indeed, they are not considered as two different people, but two aspects of the Buddha. The male figure symbolizes the aspect of the method (= compassion) and the feminine aspect of wisdom, so Yab Yum variant that is a broader representation of the union of method and wisdom (to know, compassion and wisdom). In fact, both aspects already included in the single figure, if not in Yab Yum, so we can say the Yab Yum is a way of emphasizing only the union of these two aspects. nontheless, the spouses have their own name, and sometimes are the main reason for the paintings. As I am not sure that the Buddha is in this photo, I can not tell who is the spouse, but only to give some examples, women are Vajradhara Prajnaparamita (a personification of the Perfection of Wisdom "), and consort called Samantabhadra Samantabhadra. As you probably already obviuos, this has nothing to do with sex or physical pleasures of the senses. If you want to understand what it's all about, I suggest you try to find a copy of the book "Introduction to Tantra" by Lama Yeshe and "Images of Enlightenment - Tibetan Art in Practice "by Jonathan Landaw and Andy Weber.
