Nice name from the Greek word, Nike (victory), was mild, playground by the sea from the time of the Greeks. The central France "Cote d'Azur (Riviera), the largest city of Nice, between Marseille and Genoa. If you are lucky to be in Nice on the Mediterranean coast of France, there are a variety of things to see and do in this nice weather.
"La Playa. It is glamorous and chic. An extension of more than ten miles from the port to the airport, beach (in French) Nice is made up of small smooth stones. The large hotels along this stretch of beach with beverage service flags in the ground and small cafés. In general, the costs of a chair, but experience is worth it.

Trip-A-Day to the Principality Monaco. The former home of Princess Grace and the ancestral home of the family decision Grimaldi, Monaco is located fifteen minutes from Nice by train or car. About Monaco screams luxury. Belle Epoque Casino makes a masterpiece with gilded ceilings, stairs, and dripping crystal chandeliers. This is not Las Vegas. This a formality in the casino and a code dress. Roulette is the game of choice here, although the slot machines and blackjack (Twenty-called here) also played.
The ancient city. The old town of Nice is located in the city center, opposite the port. This area is a maze of narrow streets, Italian facades and terracotta tile. The region is associated with activity. These are the least expensive, ethnic restaurants in Nice. Try a Pissaladière, the Nicoise, onion and olive pizza black. Located in the pedestrian old town full of bars, bookstores, clothing stores, and grocery stores. Pause a minute to enjoy the street performers that populate the area.
-Fields of lavender and perfume manufacturers of Grasse. lavender violets, roses, jasmine and more specifically grown for the perfume industry French. Rows of lavender plants in bloom in the sun evokes the atmosphere of an Impressionist painting. They also produce a light scent of lavender from Grasse. Many manufacturers are open to visitors. There is even a museum of history of perfume there. This is worth seeing just for the natural beauty.
"The Matisse museum. The sun, colors of the Riviera are visible throughout the work of Henri Matisse. Sparks from the Mediterranean Sea through the open windows in several of his paintings. This museum complements vast body of paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, paper cuts and his first efforts with those of his later years. Opened in 1963, core collection the Musée Matisse was given by the artist in the city of Nice, where he lived from 1918 to 1954. Located in Cimiez Hill, the museum also has some elements Matisse's own home and works of his friends of many artists. A gift shop sells prints of Matisse.
"The Port. The port of Nice in the city center is home delicious seafood restaurants, trendy dance clubs, and views of water exploration. This is a major working port, the second Marseille on the Mediterranean coast of France. Sit in a coffee table along the pier and watch the animation that ships are loaded unloaded. There is also a ferry port with boats departing from St. Tropez, Corsica, and beyond.
"Leave the city. Nice is located along the Riviera. Just a short drive or train are Cannes, home of the famous festival film and a beautiful sandy beach, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, a community beach chic "that has a small casino, a relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking views, Antibes, another city prosperous coastal and the Picasso Museum, and Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice nearest neighbor to the east, a beautiful Provencal village with traditional sending streets, narrow architecture and the mass of stucco. For an excursion, take the ferry to Saint-Tropez, the playground of the rich and famous, and walk along the rows of yachts million.
Other Museums. Many artists have been inspired by the Mediterranean coast and the mild climate of Provence. Picasso, Monet, Sisley, Dufy, Degas and left a work that reflects this region South of France. Many good examples are in the Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) in Nice. The 19th century manor house Italian - well worth a visit in itself - the home to a large collection of paintings and works of Dufy Boudin, Sisley, Degas y. Living is a trade exhibition Belle Epoque poster art.
Also Cimiez Hill above is the Museum Marc Chagall. Exiled from Russia, Chagall became a French citizen in 1937. Nice museum is devoted to biblical themes. Paints, lithographs, etchings and stained glass shown here were a gift from the artist. The bright colors and abstract designs leap walls positive.
Worth a visit is the art and history of Massena Museum (above) on the Paseo Marítimo. The mansion houses a large collection of representative of the decorative arts of the region of Nice-Piedmont furniture, ceramic tableware, jewelry and pottery.
La Chapelle-St Pierre in Villefranche-sur-Mer. The Chapel of San Pedro, near Villefranche-sur-Mer (just five miles east of Nice) is impressive in its simplicity. The stone walls of this 14th century Romanesque chapel are covered with frescoes by the artist, author and filmmaker Jean Cocteau, in homage to the fishermen of Villefranche. His drawings are soft, round and mobile. No longer used for regular services, this small chapel is a wonderful place to stop for a moment and reflect.
"The flower market. Flower Market of Nice is colorful, cheerful and welcoming. Located in the old town, this market has produced Daily fresh flowers and a myriad of exotic and affordable violets, daffodils, birds of paradise. On Monday, the market changes from one chip and the antiquities market. (So fun.)
